Sign Up for a Facebook Business Page

The first step to building an audience on Facebook for a business is to sign up for a Facebook business page. This is the official page for your business. The purpose of the page is to promote your business and gain new customers. In addition to a Facebook business page, you can operate a standalone Facebook page for ongoing conversations with current and potential customers.

The Facebook business page has its own tab at the top of your Facebook page that allows you to manage all your online communication. Depending on your business, you can add:

  • Products & Services
  • Special Offers & Coupons
  • Facebook Events
  • Events on Facebook
  • Custom Logos & Page Images
  • Moments
  • Marketplace listings
  • Twitter, Yelp, Google, YouTube, and Flickr
  • Fan Pages
  • Recent Activity

All of these features and more allow you to grow a Facebook audience for your business and actively engage with your customers on a number of different social media channels. The more time you invest in your Facebook business page, the more it will grow.

Warning

Before you begin adding pages to your business page, if you already have a Facebook fan page, your business page will need to be verified by uploading a scanned copy of your business certificate and a scanned copy of your business license.

Complete Your ‘About’ & ‘Our Story’ Sections

Your ‑About Me‒ and ‑Our Story‒ sections are critical building blocks for your business Facebook page. Facebook allows for up to 300 characters for the ‑About Me‒ section and 1,000 characters for the ‑Our Story‒. However, since both of these sections are designed to share more than just a brief blurb about your business, your authenticity speaks for itself. Therefore, you don’t need to spend much time explaining how you got into your business or how long you’ve been around. Instead, you should focus on providing your audience with information and facts that they’re interested in reading and that you have experienced.

Add Compelling Information to Your ‘About’ Section

This step is all about adding information to your Facebook business page about you and your company. This is really important, and without it, you won’t even make it onto search rankings. Facebook requires that each ‑business‒ has an ‑About‒ section, and that section is what allows your business to show up in search results.

There are some great resources in this post to help you craft an appropriate and compelling About section, but I’m going to give you a general outline of what to add.

  • Tell people who you are and what you do.
  • Include information about any awards or recognitions that the company or business has received.
  • Brag about your products and services.
  • Describe your team, your company, and your business.
  • Talk about your goals and vision.
  • Share a bit about how you came up with the idea for your business.

Design & Upload Your Logo as Your Profile Picture

Selecting a logo for your Facebook page is probably one of the most important steps that you’ll take in designing your business page.

It’s an added element that differentiates you from your competitors and is the first thing your customers will see.

But that’s not to say that it’s overly complicated.

There’s really no need to go overboard with this step.

In fact, for a Facebook business page, you can simply design a minimalist, modern looking logo using clip art, fonts, a photo of your own showing your business, or a photograph of the place or product you sell.

Here are a few to get you started:

If you're not much of a designer or designer inclined, you can have your logo designed professionally for you. There are several popular graphic design companies who specialize in creating logos:

Logojoy, CoAdz, or Designhill.

These companies are similar in many ways.

Design Your Logo

Before designing your Facebook business page, you should first determine what your brand represents. This step may seem obvious, but what people often overlook is how this task will serve as the foundation for your page. Everything from your page name to your cover photos should reflect your brand. Having a logo is an excellent way to accomplish this. The next step is to design your logo. Here are some tips for designing a logo.

Use a tool like Canva to design and layout your logo. Canva works with plenty of different software and there is no need to download any other software. With Canva, you can edit your logo using your mouse, making it a breeze.

For a simple logo, use one or two colors like in the example below. The simple logo is effective without distracting from the actual product.

If you are looking for something a bit more complex, it’s time to drop some colors. An effective marketing logo usually consists of a multiple color scheme. But this can be a little overwhelming for business owners. This is why you need to look for a background color and two colors to use for your logo. These two colors should be complementary (as in the example below) and should help distinguish the different brand elements.

Check out Canva’s Logo Designer to use your own background color.

Upload Your Logo

Facebook is the largest social networking community in the world, with over 1,500 million users. With Fb, all business, big or small, can have their own business Facebook page, reach their target audience and potential customers.

Facebook is a great platform to promote your business but it's important to post on the right time. Also, you'll need your "Pinterest marketing", your page will only be successful if you manage it with other social media platforms. If you don't have a blog, you'll need a platform to post.

Facebook Business Page is a great place, and it's only delivered if you're active. Building a Facebook page takes a lot of time and is not easy if you have no experience in Facebook Marketing.

If you're looking to start a Facebook page for your business, or you're inheriting an existing one, here are 6 steps to creating a Facebook business page:

Step 1: Design your Facebook business page

You want to look professional and get people to trust you. Your page will attract more people if it's well designed. Your main objective when you're designing your page is to provide the right information to your target audience. Your focus should be on the client's needs.

Step 2: Choose your brand color

Design & Upload a Professional Cover Photo or Video

Our cover photos are the first thing people will see when they visit our Facebook page. They are the front and center for all of our marketing efforts, so a quality cover photo is important. To create a business page, you must first design a custom cover photo and/or custom profile picture.

Make sure the image you choose is not a cropped version of your website’s logo, because people will see your website’s logo in the corner when they visit your page.

Here are some tips to help you design your cover photo:

Does your business have a mascot? If so, you’ll want to make sure you have it in the photo. You can always post a second photo, but this is the place you can make it look as though your mascot is in the photo.

For a 5×7 image, you have a 160×120 pixel area. The outline of your logo and the words written in your logo will appear in that area. You’ll also want your logo to be in the center of the photo.

Choose an interesting image, but make sure it is high resolution for a good quality print. Make sure the imprinted image is well lit and doesn’t have any dark areas.

Lighten images; make them lighter than the average Facebook Cover photo.

Design a Cover Photo

To promote your Facebook page, you’ll need a cover photo. Facebook users will see your cover photo whenever they visit your page and will also be one of the first things to see when your page appears in Facebook search results. You’ll want to make sure your cover photo stands out from other cover photos on Facebook. They should catch the person’s eye and get them to click.

Your cover photo can be a great place to use rich media, such as images and video. Upload high resolution images that reveal a lot of detail. As an example, you can place your business logo inside an image and upload at least three different sizes. For video, your video should be at least two minutes long, at least 720p, and should allow for a full screen view. You also might want to use high resolution images or video that you’ve already published somewhere else on the web.

If you’re worried about spamming your feed with more media than you can use (with images and video) then upload a low resolution image that is small enough that it doesn’t reveal a lot of detail. But be aware that you’ll be attracting more users with a high resolution image or video, so you may find your membership numbers rise as a result.

Upload Your Cover Photo

Profile Picture and Profile Picture.

You can design a Facebook Business Page in just three easy steps.

Step 1: Upload a cover photo that represents your brand and tell your customers what kind of business you run, whether it’s a shoe store, a restaurant, or a photography studio. You can upload an image, a background, or upload a photo from your computer, too.

Step 2: Upload a profile picture that will let your customers get to know you better. Use a photo of you and your current employees (optional) or upload a photo that shows off your product line. You can use a profile picture from your Facebook account as well.

Once you’ve signed in, click on the grey business page tab at the top of your timeline. Then, click on Edit, which is located on the left sidebar.

Choose page layout from the drop-down menu. Under Page layouts, you’ll see the five Facebook Business Page options.

Step 3: Upload a profile picture and cover photo.

You can upload a profile picture that matches your cover photo. However, it does not have to be the same. You can upload a background photo that complements your cover photo.

Change Tabs (Page Menus) to Suit Your Business

When your Facebook Business Page is viewed by the wrong audience it’s a problem. The solution? Consider changing the Page Menus so the right people find your brand at the right time.

Using the insights from the social monitoring process, you can come up with a custom tab, fix the Page URL to reflect properly and efficiently, answer questions and give people what they want.

In fact, you can even create an entirely new Page (a facebook page drop down menu names a street and layers of doors, it’s like a maze) to promote a specific product or service.

If you think customers need a better way to find you, make the change. We’ll tell you what you need to do to make the change.

Add or Remove Tabs

Generally, you will always want either the Fan page Tab or the Info tab on your Facebook Business Page. However, if you only want to use heavy Facebook pages, you may want to not add the page tab.

Generally an info tab will display a range of information about your business and includes additional tabs that expand your business page’s content. The info tab is the last option when it comes to building a business page. Generally it is meant for businesses that do not want a traditional landing page.

Sam Sebastian and Reed Stephensongave a great overview of why having an info tab is a great idea on a business page for your brand. Defining your brand and business can be a challenge, which is why most people overlook this step. For instance, if a competitor’s Facebook business page is similar to your brand, users can easily guess that the competitor’s page is designed for them. Having an info tab will help define your brand and give people a handle on your business.

In this tutorial, I will show you two methods for setting up your info tab. We will walk you through creating a business tab by using the App tab and by using a custom tab.

Reorder Menu Options

When you click on any of Instagram’s menu options, you’ll see a drop-down menu. Usually, the menu appears with the menu items listed in descending order. But sometimes it’s easier to use the Reorder Menu Section.

To use Reorder Menu for the first time, go to the Options section of your Settings.

Next, click on the Reorder menu section. This will give you a drop-down menu where you can sort your menu to your liking.

What are Screen Orientations all About?

The most common screen orientations for tablet and mobile devices are landscape and portrait. Screen orientation can change where the top of the screen lines up with the left or right of the screen.

Landscape means that the top of the device screen lines up with the left of the device screen. You’ll see this with the entire screen displayed in one column.

Portrait means that the top of the screen lines up with the right of the device screen. You’ll see this with the entire screen displayed in two columns.

Here’s how the screen orientation options are arranged.

In the Larger screen Device Orientation Major Events section, you’ll see the available screen orientations listed for both the landscape and the portrait.

Add a CTA Button Aligned Your Goals

Copywriting is the type of writing that provides a way to get your specific message to your target audience in the easiest way. Your main goal should be to convince them to the use of your offers.

When creating a Facebook business page, one of the writers’ main objectives is to get them to use your Facebook page. One of the best ways to do that is to create a CTA button.

Facebook CTA Button: Why.

In the standard Facebook page, once a visitor lands on your private post or you could add it to a story, they will be taken to a screen with your very own Facebook logo that leads them to a mini profile – which also features a Facebook CTA button. This button is meant to capture their attention and include it your CTA bar.

Adding the Facebook CTA button on your Business page will create a link for visitors that will take them to your page. It is possible to add up to four CTAs just like this that will make your page more attractive to your visitors.

That being said, if you are not sure how to include a Facebook CTA button, here’s the step-by-step UX process to show you how.

Create and design an attractive Facebook cover photo that acts as a book cover of your page content.

Tucker’s Restaurant

Is Our Story:

And then we had a Facebook Business Page idea, we decided to put it into action.

It all started at our local Tucker’s Family Restaurant. It was after dinner one evening when our friend, Joseph, and I inquired about sitting in the bar. After a short discussion with the bartender, we were told that yes, in fact we could. The bottom line was that we used the restroom and got a chance to sit and talk with the bartender. He told us that he was a waiter at the restaurant while he was in college and how he had been tutoring the owner and serving bar for the last 4 years. In all, it was a very nice first impression.

After that night, we started to come back every night and meet Mike, head bartender, and ask him questions. He was a great resource for information about the restaurant. We found out that his favorite saying was, “Whatever it is, drink it!” We developed a friendship with Mike and the rest of the staff in the bar.

We became regulars to the bar, hanging out after work and keeping up with the news of Tucker’s. Mike would tell us things about what was going on and provide his views and advice. He was excited to see us there. He told us that he thought that we were the best new customers the restaurant had had.

Threadfellows

Facebook marketing is a big deal for business owners. Large and small businesses alike are using Facebook to grow their social reach, engage customers, and recruit new talent.

Facebook pages play an important part of social marketing. Facebook pages are a free and easy way to engage with your target audience, provide valuable information, and promote your business.

Once your page is created, get started right away by following the six-step plan below.

Choose the right template for your business

One of the easiest and most effective ways to design a Facebook page is to select a template from the Facebook Pages for Business and Pages for Brands templates. However, if you are a business that doesn’t have the time to design a template from scratch like Threadfellows does, you can always use one of many free Facebook Page templates online.

Add images, managing your Facebook profile

You are going to need to use images to make your page visually interesting. Facebook places a lot of importance on visuals. Adding images is vital. To make your images look great for the Facebook app, design them for the larger display size and upload them at a higher resolution. Photos and videos that are uploaded at a higher resolution will look great on the Facebook mobile app and desktop site.

How to Design your Facebook Page. 20 Examples

Facebook is an excellent avenue to market your products and services because the platform is popular, engaging, and has a wide demographic range (from teens, to young adults, to seniors). Since your business is represented there, you have many options for sustained lead generation. But in this post, we’re going to focus on your Facebook business page.

There are 3 alternatives to driving traffic to your business page:

But unless you’re a highly optimized digital marketer accustomed to generating a ton of leads through a direct-response email list, we recommend direct traffic from Facebook’s Facebook ad platform. This is because it’s easy to scale until you have a high volume of leads coming in, like we’ve done.

Here’s how to do it.

Try the “Send Message” CTA Button

Since the My Business tab was introduced, sending a Facebook message has become a popular way for businesses to get in touch with their customers and ask for orders.

After I reach out to them, I rarely hear back from them. Often times, I doubt myself. Can I really build a relationship with these people? Is this just an email in my inbox they will never read?

That’s why it’s important to show potential customers with “Send Message” CTA buttons. “Send Message” is a CTA that makes it very apparent to your customers that requesting a Facebook message will be easy.

When they click the CTA, it will lead them to a section of your Facebook page where they can write you a message.

Consistently message your customers with CTA prompts like this, and in a few short months, your Facebook business page will be chock full of messages. All you have to do is reply to them.

Be Sure to Link Your Website to Your Profile

To get the most out of your business Facebook profile, don’t forget to link it to your website. This is especially true if you currently do not have a website or if you are thinking of starting a blog/online store.

Why?

This will help encourage your website visitors to stay on your site to get more out of the content that you produce. They’ll also be able to continue to interact with you when they click on the Like button. Facebook will track the number of people you have turned into fans. There’s also an organic reach measurement of people who see your page content. All of this will help you to grow organically.

To set up a website link in your Facebook business profile click on the drop down next to the page title.

Then click on the Edit (pencil icon) button.

You will then see a page with a list of options for you to choose from.

Select Website from the options.

Next to Website URL, you’ll see the Re-Direct URL option.

Re-direct URL field is where you put the code Insert into your website that will display your Facebook business profile in your website footer. This is also where you can display a different profile picture.

Increase Your SEO Value

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can I get more Facebook page likes?

Getting Facebook page likes can help you market your business and grow audience and fans faster than usual.

Your Facebook business page looks and feels much like your personal Facebook account. This means you can add friends, like Facebook pages and events, and post status updates and photos.

Not all Facebook page "likes" will be followers and fans. A few of your Facebook business page likes may be "Visits" coming from the "Pages You Like" feature on Facebook. This is important because a "Like" on your Facebook page is the highest engagement action for your business. It's a sign that your business page is in high-quality conversations. "Visits" to your business page tell you that Facebook users are interested in your business.

Below are seven tips for getting more Facebook page likes.

Make sure your business page is publicly visible to anyone.

Your business page is visible to the public unless it is set as hidden.

A business page visibility status of "appears to be you" will be visible to the public as "Your Business Page."

Make sure that everyone can check your business page at any time by following these steps:

  • In the top-right corner of any Facebook business page, click "Manage Page"
  • Click "Edit Page"

What’s the best way to market on Facebook?

A Facebook business page is one of the best ways to market on Facebook. If you’re new to Facebook or if your business isn’t really tech-savvy, however, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the different options and features.

In this post, we’ll walk you through how to design a Facebook business page in six simple steps. We’ll include some great examples, too, to give you some ideas of how to present your business to Facebook fans.

The Pros & Cons of Designing Your Own Facebook Page

There are two main ways of designing a Facebook business page, and they each have their own strengths and weaknesses:

Assemble a team of professionals to design or redesign your Facebook business page … this option is good if you have a lot of money to spend and if it’s important to you that the look of your Facebook business page matches the look of your website or sales collateral.

Design your Facebook business page yourself … this option is good if you have the time and patience for it, if you don’t have a lot of money to spend, or if you’re fine with your Facebook business page generating low-quality leads.

How do I optimize my Facebook business page?

The vast majority of brands on Facebook have a rich media business page. During the past couple of years, Facebook began rolling out including rich media and video features to cover the main pages of brands. When you visit a brand’s Facebook business page, chances are, you’ll see a number of rich media elements that cover the whole page including the top bar, content area, and more.

A healthy growth in a business’s monthly likes and fans, high engagement with fans, and favorable SEO results are very common results from implementing rich media strategy initially on Facebook, especially in the music industry and entertainment industry. You can see some examples of Facebook business pages that have implemented a rich media strategy in the past year.

However, there are many brands that can greatly benefit from implementing a rich media strategy on their business pages. It’s not a secret that it’s relatively easier for a brand with a Facebook page to drive conversions, increase brand awareness, and increase the number of people who know about your brand compared to a brand with an average organic reach of 30%.

If you haven’t already, you should definitely implement a rich media strategy on your business page based on your business goals. Here’s how you do it:
